MONTICELLO CITY PATHWAY:
14+ miles of paved pathways are located within Monticello City limits. These paved walkways allow residents and visitors to enjoy walking, running, biking, rollerblading or family strolls including walking the dog. Monticello is proud of its extensive parks and pathway system, which includes 24 city owned parks and winding trails.

Monticello Enjoys Parks for All Seasons
Monticello area parks are well suited for year round activity - spring, summer, fall or winter. Monticello’s city parks encompass approximately 100 acres of community land for all to enjoy including a County Park and Lake Maria State Park is only 7 miles west of town. Currently, the city is acquiring land acreage for a regional park and athletic fields to be located at Bertram Chain of Lakes located on 1300 acres including four lakes. These community assets add to the quality of life for those who live and work in Monticello.


OTTER CREEK PARK:

Sponsored by the Monticello Rotary Club. Enjoy the sounds of Otter Creek winding through this picturesque park setting with sitting bench and gazebo for enjoying the view. Located along the city pathway on thewest end of Broadway (Co. Rd. 75) just past Pinewood Elementary School.

 

MONTICELLO SWAN PARK:
This City park is located along the banks of the Mississippi River in a residential neighborhood located on Mississippi Drive. It is noted for its trumpeter swan sightings during the months of mid November through February.

 

Bertram Chain of Lakes :
Just outside of Monticello, 3 miles west on Co. Rd. 39
Covering nearly 1,300 acres of land and lakes, the City of Monticello and Wright County are in the process of purchasing this land to serve as a regional park area. Currently, the YMCA Camp Manitou offers a number of recreational opportunities including a children's day camp, hiking, dirt bike programs for youth, horseback riding and hiking trails, swimming beach, and cross country skiing. Located 3 miles southwest of Monticello on Bertram Lake, just off Co. Rd. 39 West and Briarwood. For more information call, (763) 295-2403.


MONTICELLO CITY PARKS WITH PLAYGROUNDS:

ELLISON PARK:
Located along the banksof the Mississippi River, this park has playground equipment which includes swings and slides. Log shelter and picnic areas on site.

WEST BRIDGE PARK:
Newly expanded playground equipment in 2002, this riverside park has a pier setting theme in its playground structure. Located on the west side of the Mississippi River bridge just off Hwy. 25 and west River Street.




ADDITIONAL CITY PARKS WITH PLAYGROUNDS:
Several parks within the city limits of Monticello also have playground equipment: 4th Street (on the corner of Fourth St. and Ramsey); Cardinal Hills and Tot Lot (Mockingbord and Pelican Lanes); River Mill (River Mill Dr. and Mill Trail Lane);
Par West (Prairie Rd. & Kevin Longley Dr.)

MONTISSIPPI COUNTY PARK:
Located on the west end of Monticello, this county park is nestled next to the Mississippi River. Cross country ski trails for winter sports enthusiasts. Boat launch, fishing pier, picnic and camping areas, paved trails for hiking, biking and rollerblading. The park also has a large model airplane airport.

HARRY LARSON COUNTY PARK:
Located on Co. Rd. 111, just 4 miles west of Monticello and just north of Lake Maria State Park. This beautiful spot has 170 acres of rolling terrain including forests and 2 miles of ski/hike trails.

MINNESOTA STATE PARK

LAKE MARIA STATE PARK:
Vehicle permits are required for driving into the park and can be purchased on a daily or seasonal basis. Park Manager, 763-878-2325. Lake Maria State Park - Located 7 miles west of Monticello at the corner of Co. Rd. 39 and 111. This state park covers nearly 1,600 acres of land and lake. 14 miles of hiking trails, 6 miles of horseback trail riding, and fishing. Includes a network of trails, trail interpretive center and lakeshore picnic area. The park also has extensive horseback riding trails.
